Dr. Asfar Afridi

Dr. Afridi is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Medcare Camali Clinic, Jumeirah, with over 22 years of experience in the field of psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, United Kingdom (FRCPsych).

Dr. Afridi began his postgraduate training in 2003 under the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK)–accredited program in Dublin, Ireland. He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), UK, in 2007, followed by Membership of the College of Psychiatrists, Ireland (MCPsych.I), in 2009. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry in 2013. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Management for Medical Doctors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, a Higher Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies from University College Dublin, and a Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians.

Before relocating to the UAE, Dr. Afridi practiced as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Brunei (2013–2017) and Ireland (2018–2023). His clinical expertise includes the management of ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, substance addiction, and post-partum psychosis, as well as behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. He has extensive experience in treating stress-related conditions, grief, suicidal ideation, and trauma-related disorders.

Dr. Afridi is fluent in English, Hindi/Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto. He has a strong interest in cultural psychiatry and mental health awareness and has written and produced an award-winning short film, “Bottle Ka Jinn,” that highlights how childhood trauma manifest in different cultures.
