Dr. Anwar Alhammadi

Dr. Anwar Alhammadi is a Specialist Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at the Jumeirah branch of Medcare Medical Centre. His journey in medicine began with a medical degree and a Master's in Psychiatry from the University of Damascus. Since then, he has acquired multiple certifications, including the MRCPsych and the Arab Board in Psychiatry.

Dr. Alhammadi is a dedicated psychiatrist with over two decades of experience providing exceptional mental health care in the Gulf countries. This has given him deep insight into the unique mental health needs of a diverse population. He is committed to continuous learning and professional development to ensure that his patients receive the most current and effective treatments that are available.

Throughout his career, Dr. Alhammadi has focused on diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions. These include behavioural and developmental disorders in children, such as autism and ADHD, as well as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. His holistic approach aims at managing symptoms and enhancing his patient's overall well-being and quality of life. He has successfully treated patients with generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), adjustment disorders, grief, stress reaction, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia delusional disorder, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorders, addiction, post-natal depression, post-partum psychosis and behavioural and psychological symptoms in dementia. He is passionate about making psychiatric care accessible to Arabic-speaking individuals. To this end, he has published several books in Arabic, including "The Synopsis of the DSM-5," "The Quick Reference to DSM-5," and guides on behavioural disorders in the ICD-11, as well as the new DSM-5 TR criteria. In addition to his clinical work, he has a great interest in human philosophy. He has translated several books on the subject, focusing on the relationship between society and human development and is a reviewer for publications by the National Center for Mental Health Promotion in Saudi Arabia. He speaks Arabic and English.
