Dr. Khalid Ali Khan

Dr. Khalid Ali Khan is a Specialist in Rheumatology at Medcare Hospital Sharjah. He completed his MBBS from the King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He then obtained a Specialist Certification in Rheumatology from the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom and the British Society for Rheumatology.

He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (MRCPS), Glasgow.

After completing his training in Internal Medicine as a Resident Medical Officer at Mayo Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Khan worked in Saudi Arabia as a Medical Specialist at the Najran Armed Forces Hospital in the Ministry of Defence during the early days of his career. Subsequently, he moved to Ireland where he first worked as a Registrar in General Medicine at St. John’s Hospital, Limerick, then as a Registrar in Rheumatology/General Internal Medicine at Mater Hospital, Dublin and briefly as a Registrar in Elderly Care/General Internal Medicine at Ennis General Hospital. He also gained invaluable experience as a Registrar in Rheumatology/General Internal Medicine at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Waterford University Hospital and Cork University Hospital, all in Ireland. He was a Consultant Rheumatologist and General physician at Waterford University Hospital before relocating to the UAE. He has been a Specialist Rheumatologist with NMC Royal Hospital, Sharjah for more than a decade.

Dr. Khan diagnoses and manages conditions that affect the joints, muscles, bones, and connective tissues, often involving inflammation and pain. He has a special interest in the management of inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, osteoporosis and gout. He also treats rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, scleroderma, vasculitis, Sjogren's syndrome and polymyalgia rheumatica. He has several publications on Rheumatology topics and has presented his work on Raynaud’s phenomenon in several local and international meetings in the UAE and abroad.
