Dr. Soumya Sarin

Dr. Soumya Sarin is a Specialist Paediatrician in the Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology at Medcare Hospital- Sharjah. She completed her MBBS from the Government Medical College in Pariyaram and a postgraduate Diploma in Child Health (DCH) in Paediatrics from the Government Medical Colleges in Calicut, both in India. She also holds a post-graduate degree in Paediatric Nutrition from Boston University. Dr. Sarin was the national topper and the President's Gold medal winner in Paediatrics in the examination held by the National Board of Examinations, India. She has also obtained a Fellowship in Neonatology from the Indian Academy of Paediatrics and has a certification in Neonatology from the America Academy of Paediatrics (AAP). She is a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
She commenced her career as a Junior Resident in Paediatrics at the Government Medical College in Calicut and then went on to become a Junior Consultant in Paediatrics at NHRM at the District Government Hospital in Peroorkada in India. She worked with many renowned hospitals in the capacity of a Senior Resident in Paediatrics as well as a Neonatologist before joining the CVR Hospital in Mannarkkad as a Medical Director, followed by the position of Senior Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at Avitis Institute of Medical Sciences, Nemmara, both in India. Subsequently, she relocated to the UAE.
Her special areas of interest are newborn care, newborn follow-up, growth and developmental assessment, routine and catch-up vaccinations, childhood nutrition, paediatric allergic issues and adolescent problems. She has successfully managed neonatal resuscitation, essential newborn care, health concerns in newborns, routine vaccinations, and childhood nutrition and adolescent issues. Dr. Sarin has treated paediatrics with respiratory tract infections, asthma and allergy issues, gastrointestinal problems, nutritional deficiencies and skin infections.
Dr. Sarin is a well-known social media influencer and health activist with regular health awareness talks on her Facebook page. She is a regular columnist in Indian national dailies and magazines and a familiar face in the health topic discussions in many visual media channels in India. She speaks English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil fluently. She loves travelling and believes that travelling broadens your horizons. She is an eloquent orator and singer too. In the year 2019, she received the best social media health activist and influencer award from Indian Medical Association (IMA).
