Dr. Anjana Sreedharan

Dr. Anjana Sreedharan is a Specialist in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Al Qusais - Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital and Sharjah Medcare Hospital. She did her MBBS from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education and her Masters in General Surgery from Kasturba Medical College, both from Mangalore, India. She has a MCh in Paediatric Surgery from the Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), England, a Life Member of the Asia Pacific Hernia Society and an Associate member of the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgery.

Dr. Sreedharan commenced her career as a Junior Resident in the Department of General Surgery at the Government Wenlock District Hospital and KMC Hospitals in Mangalore, India. She went on to work as a Senior Resident in the same institute. Following this, she worked as a Senior resident in Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi which is the largest tertiary hospital in the capital city of India. As an assistant professor at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital (VMMC and SJH), she had the opportunity to teach and train the next generation of paediatric surgeons while providing quality care to children with various surgical conditions. Subsequently, she relocated to the UAE.

Dr. Sreedharan performs complex surgical procedures, manages post-operative complications, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams. Her mission is to improve the health and well-being of children through excellence in surgery, education, and research. Her area of expertise covers neonatal surgeries, gastrointestinal surgeries and paediatric urology. She is proficient in several complicated surgeries that include urethroplasty for Hypospadias, posterior sagittal anorectoplasty for anorectal malformation, Anderson Hynes pyeloplasty for pelvic ureteric junction obstruction, Ladd's procedure for malrotation and midgut volvulus, gastroschisis and omphaloceles, neonatal high sigmoid loop colostomy for anorectal malformation and Hirschsprung's disease, tracheoesophageal fistula with oesophageal atresia and orchidopexy for undescended testis. She has successfully treated congenital diaphragmatic hernia, infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, neonatal and paediatric intestinal obstruction, appendicectomy, paediatric inguinal hernia and circumcision.
