Dr. Mudhar A. Alshaowa

Dr. Mudhar A Alshaowa is a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery at Medcare Hospital- Sharjah. He completed his MD in Medicine at the Syrian Private University, Syria, and then qualified in both the Arab Board and Syrian Board Certifications in Orthopaedics. He completed his Orthopaedic Training at Damascus Hospital in Syria and his Fellowship in Spinal Deformity Surgery from the European Medical Centre.  Additionally, he completed an Advanced Spine Deformity Correction Course at North-Western State Medical University in Russia (in partnership with the Turner Institute for Paediatric Orthopaedics).

Dr. Alshaowa spent the initial years of his career practising in Syria and Iraq. He did an apprenticeship as a Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Mir Ali Orthopaedic Clinic and worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Al Fayhaa Private Hospital in Damascus, Syria. He also worked part-time as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at IZA Hospital and the European Medical Centre, both in Karbala, Iraq. Subsequently, he moved to the UAE to join Burjeel Hospital as a Paediatric Orthopaedic Scoliosis Surgeon. He was a Spine and Paediatric Orthopaedic Specialist at Burjeel Hospital of Advanced Surgery before he joined Medcare.

With more than a decade of specialised experience, Dr. Alshaowa is an expert in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues and performing both surgical and non-surgical methods. He treats scoliosis (idiopathic, congenital, neuromuscular and revisions), kyphosis (congenital, Scheuermann's and post-traumatic), limb lengthening, foot deformities (club foot and flat foot), chronic bone and joint infections, limb reconstruction and deformity corrections, end-stage osteoarthritis, degenerative spinal conditions, bone defects and non-unions as well as spinal pain management. He also treats paediatric and adult bone and spine trauma and fractures.

He has published multiple research studies in reputed journals and is a frequent presenter at international conferences on spinal deformities and paediatric orthopaedics. As an active participant in seminars for knowledge sharing and skill development, he uses the latest advancements and interventions. He is fluent in both Arabic and English.
