Dr. Ahmed Tamer Farag Ahmed Mohamed is a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at Medcare Hospital. He completed his MBBCh from the Faculty of Medicine, October 6 University in Cairo, Egypt. He followed this up with an MSc in Orthopaedic Surgery and an MD in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University (Kasr Al Ainy), Egypt. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), UK.

Dr. Farag began his professional journey as a House Officer at Cairo University more than two decades ago. Later, he was promoted as a Senior House Officer (resident physician) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at October 6 University Hospital in Giza, Egypt. He worked as a part-time Registrar at Al Salam International Hospital in Egypt, which is one of the largest tertiary care hospitals in the Middle East. He then worked as an Assistant lecturer as well as a Specialist in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at the October 6 University Hospital in Egypt. He became a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at the El Zaitoun Specialized Hospital and a Lecturer of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, October 6 University Hospital, Egypt. He was a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at the October 6 University Hospital before relocating to the UAE, to join the Saudi German Hospital, Sharjah and Ajman branches, in a similar capacity.

Dr. Farag specialises in Trauma, including Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures, Sports Medicine Arthroscopy and Ligament Reconstruction, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Arthroplasty (hip, knee, shoulder), Arthroscopy (knee, shoulder), and Deformity Correction (including Ilizarov). He addresses both congenital and post-traumatic deformities, with a particular focus on paediatric orthopaedics. His expertise encompasses joint replacements, specifically for the hip, knee, and shoulder joints. He is also skilled in sports medicine, especially in managing knee and shoulder injuries, and is proficient in arthroscopy for both diagnosis and treatment. He treats acute fractures, joint Injuries and dislocations, soft tissue emergencies, acute compartment syndrome, post-traumatic sequelae, malunions and post-traumatic arthritis. He performs multiple surgical procedures, including open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) and closed reduction and stabilisation. He treats recurrent dislocation, Bankart/Hill-Sachs Lesions, Rotator Cuff Tears, SLAP Tears, shoulder impingement/AC Joint Pathology, knee ACL/PCL, meniscal tears, ankle sprains, osteochondral lesions of the Talus (OCD), and Tenosynovitis. He also treats degenerative arthritis, inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), avascular necrosis (AVN), post-traumatic arthritis, failed arthroplasty and performs arthroplasty procedures for the hip, knee, shoulder and ankle. He does revision knee arthroplasty and periprosthetic fractures.

He focuses on a wide spectrum of congenital, developmental, and traumatic musculoskeletal conditions affecting the upper and lower limbs, including Clubfoot, Flatfoot, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), Perthes Disease, Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE), Patellar Instability, and major ligamentous injuries (ACL/PCL), often managed in the adolescent athlete. He is proficient in treating Hallux Valgus (Bunions), hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, acute foot fractures, dislocations, Achilles tendon deficiencies, and tenodesis.
