Dr. Pavan Kumar Gorla

Dr. Pavan Kumar Gorla is a Consultant in Gastrointestinal Surgery at Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital & Medcare Hospital in Sharjah. He completed his MBBS at Kurnool Medical College and his MS in General Surgery at PGIMER, Chandigarh, both in India. Later, he completed an MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology from King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow, India. He received the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), an international credential for surgical excellence.

Dr. Pavan began his professional journey as a Junior and then Senior Resident doctor in General Surgery at PGIMER in Chandigarh, India. Later, he joined King Georges’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow as a Senior Resident in Surgical Gastroenterology. He also worked as a Consultant in GI Surgery at Charak Hospital in Lucknow, India, before relocating to the UAE. In the UAE, he first worked as a Specialist in GI Surgery at Aster Hospital in Mankhool and then as a Consultant in GI Surgery at NMC Royal Hospital in Sharjah. 

Dr. Pavan is skilled in both basic and advanced GI surgical procedures, including laparoscopic and oncological surgeries. He is proficient in treating gall bladder and common bile duct (CBD) stones and performs laparoscopic cholecystectomy and CBD exploration. His repertoire spans choledochal cyst excision, Roux-en-Y Hepaticojejunostomy for bile duct stricture, laparoscopic surgery for Hydatid liver cysts, pancreatitis, hiatus hernia, diaphragmatic hernia, and refractory GERD, achalasia cardia, ulcer disease and appendicitis. He performs oesophagus, stomach, gall bladder, liver, biliary tract, pancreas, small bowel, colon, rectal and gastrointestinal cancer surgery.His expertise extends to the surgical treatment of haemorrhoids, fistula in anorectal prolapse, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. He is known for the laparoscopic management of inguinal, incisional, umbilical and ventral hernia, splenectomy, shunt surgery and devascularisation procedure for portal hypertension and managing obesity through bariatric surgery and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
