Dr. Vinod S Hegade

Dr. Vinod Hegade is a Consultant Hepatologist at Medcare Hospital, Sharjah. He completed his MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health (RGUHS), Bangalore, India. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), UK. He has completed a Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in Gastroenterology, an European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ESEGH) and a UK CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and General (Internal) Medicine. Additionally, his GI training included the prestigious NIHR Research Fellowship from Newcastle University, where he was awarded a PhD.  

 Dr. Hegade has almost a decade of experience across a wide range of GI and liver diseases and holds triple accreditation in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Internal Medicine. He completed advanced fellowships in liver transplantation at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and ERCP at St James’ University Hospital, Leeds. Later, he worked as a Consultant Hepatologist at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Before moving to the UAE, he worked as a Consultant Hepatologist at St James’ University Hospital, Leeds, and ran a successful semi-private practice. In the UAE, he worked as a Consultant at the American Hospital, Dubai.

Dr Hegade is a competent endoscopist who performs high-quality gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures, including polyp removal. He also performs ERCP procedures for bile duct stone removal and stent placement. He treats liver diseases, including fatty liver, viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, PBC, PSC and liver cirrhosis, placement of biliary and pancreatic stents, IBS, SIBO and IBD. He also performs stent placement in the oesophagus, small bowel, and colon, manages gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and performs therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy, including polyp removal. His expertise covers medical management of pre-and post-liver transplantation, colon cancer screening, small bowel capsule endoscopy and comprehensive evaluation and treatment of all digestive and liver-related diseases and disorders.
