About

Dr. Suvadip Chatterjee is a Consultant in Gastroenterology at Medcare Hospital Sharjah and Medcare Royal Speciality Hospitals. He obtained an MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine from Christian Medical College and Hospital Ludhiana, India, with multiple honours and distinctions. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) UK and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) Edinburgh and received the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Gastroenterology from the UK. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the Indian Society for Gastroenterology (ISG) and the Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI).

Dr. Chatterjee also completed a therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK focusing on advanced therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. He is accredited as an independent therapeutic endoscopist, by the Joint Advisory Group, UK. He was awarded the British Society of Gastroenterology visiting fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, USA. 

Dr. Chatterjee worked with prestigious hospitals like the Tata Medical Center in Kolkata, India where he established the GI and therapeutic endoscopy services and was also instrumental in the commissioning of the new state-of-the-art endoscopy unit there. He also spent a decade at the Manipal Hospital in Kolkata, India as a Senior Consultant in Gastroenterology. In the UAE, he was the Head of the Department of Gastroenterology at Al Zahra Hospital Sharjah, where he was involved in the JCI accreditation of the unit and in establishing therapeutic endoscopy services; particularly ERCP and bariatric endoscopy. He was heading the Gastroenterology Department at the NMC Royal Hospital, Sharjah before joining Medcare. 

His area of expertise covers the entire gamut of advanced therapeutic endoscopy, including ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound, fatty liver disease and other liver problems, heartburn, acidity, dyspepsia and ulcers, colonic polyps and their resection and polypectomy, bowel problems like diarrhoea, constipation and weight loss, unexplained anaemia and GI bleeding. He has successfully treated patients with conditions like GERD, IBS, biliary diseases, acute and chronic liver diseases, pancreatic diseases and GI malignancies. He also performs colon cancer screening. 

He is fluent in Bengali, English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
