Dr. Ali El Houni

Dr. Ali El Houni is an experienced endocrinologist, professor, and consultant working at Medcare Hospital, Sharjah. He completed his MBChB and MSc from the University of Liverpool School of Medicine, UK. He holds a double certification in Endocrinology and General Medicine from the UK Specialisation Register and has a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training from the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), UK & Ireland. He is a member of the American Thyroid Association (ATA), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology(AACE) Gulf Chapter, the British  Endocrine Society(BES), the Manchester Medical Society (MMS) and the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), UK & Ireland.

Dr. El Houni has spent over three decades in the field of Endocrinology, working in the UK and the UAE. He was a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist at Tawam Hospital, Abu Dhabi, an Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Programme, and the Clinical Lead on the Thyroid Cancer MDT Meeting in Tawam/Thyroid Oncology Service. He was also the Site Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship (DOH/Imperial College London, UK) Programme and a Clinical Associate Professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University for many years. 

Dr. El Houni specialises in thyroid oncology, diabetes management and hormonal imbalances.  His expertise covers thyroid disorders, thyroid ultrasound, thyroid nodules and thyroid oncology. He treats type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including management of CGM and insulin pump patients, obesity and metabolism disorders, hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, parathyroid disorders, osteoporosis, adrenal disorders, tumours, reproductive, pubertal and growth endocrinology, pituitary gland disorders, thyroid and diabetes in pregnancy management, calcium and electrolyte abnormalities, diabetic foot disease, ovarian and testicular disorders.

Dr. El Houni is passionate about providing quality care and educating patients on how to maintain good health. He uses the latest technology to diagnose and treat conditions and is recognised internationally for contributions to thyroid cancer research and diabetes care. He speaks Arabic and English.
