Ms. Sneha Poochiriyan

Ms. Sneha Poochiriyan is a  experienced Audiologist in the ENT Department at Medcare Hospital, Sharjah. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology, a Master’s degree in Audiology from the prestigious All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru, India, and an International Vestibular Diploma. She is a registered member of the Rehabilitation Council of India and an active member of the Indian Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA) and the Indian Speech and Hearing Association–Kerala Branch (ISHA-KSB).

 

With extensive clinical experience in both India and the UAE, Ms. Poochiriyan specializes in the comprehensive assessment and management of hearing, balance, and auditory processing disorders across all age groups. Her clinical expertise spans advanced diagnostic audiology, hearing aid fitting, cochlear implant candidacy evaluation, and individualized rehabilitative care.

Ms. Poochiriyan began her career at the All India Institute of Speech & Hearing, Mysuru, India, where she performed routine audiological evaluations. Later, she served as an Audiologist cum Assistant Professor at the Mar Thoma College of Special Education, Institute of Speech & Hearing, under the aegis of the Kerala University of Health Sciences. Subsequently, she relocated to the UAE, working as a Clinical Audiologist, first at Sheikh Khalifa Speciality Hospital in Ras Al-Khaimah and then at Medcare Hospital, Sharjah.

She is specially trained in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation and is well-versed in advanced vestibular and balance testing, including Electrocochleography (EcochG), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), Videonystagmography (VNG), Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT), and caloric testing. She provides vestibular rehabilitation therapy and positional manoeuvres for the management of vertigo and balance disorders.

 

Ms. Poochiriyan is also certified in tinnitus and hyperacusis assessment and provides Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) as part of a comprehensive, patient-centred approach to tinnitus and sound sensitivity management.

In addition, she has strong expertise in electrophysiological assessments, including Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) for threshold estimation and site-of-lesion evaluation, Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR), and Long Latency Responses (LLR), supporting accurate diagnosis across both pediatric and adult populations.

 

Ms. Poochiriyan is passionate about academic training and is actively involved in lecturing, teaching and organising seminars.  She has published research articles in reputed journals. When away from work, she makes time to pursue her favourite hobby of reading. She speaks Arabic, English, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam..
