Dr. Narayanan Janakiram

Dr. Narayanan Janakiram is a Specialist in the ENT Department of Medcare Hospital- Sharjah. He obtained his MBBS from the Madras Medical College in India and followed it up with a Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO) and an MS (ENT) both from the Madras Medical College in India. He is a life member of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India.

Dr. Janakiraman has come a long way in his quest for knowledge and pursuit of excellence. His journey to becoming a globally recognized surgeon was fuelled by the inspiration from his parents. He has spent three decades in his chosen field, relentlessly bringing innovative approaches to surgical techniques. He is a renowned surgeon in the field of Otorhinolaryngology and Advanced Sinus and Skull Base Surgeries. He has lived and worked in many countries during his illustrious career. He practised as a surgeon and teaching faculty in Germany, Malaysia, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Kuwait and Vietnam besides being a visiting consultant in Maldives, Colombo, Tanzania, Egypt and Bahrain. He spent some time as the Chief Consultant and Managing Director at the Royal Pearl Hospital in Tiruchirappalli.

His unwavering passion has established him as a distinguished figure in the field of ENT surgery. He had the privilege of being a visiting Fellow at the Singapore General Hospital, under the guidance of Dr. D.S Sethi and at KEM Hospital with Dr. Milind Kirtane, both Professors of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. He was a visiting Fellow at Tata Memorial Hospital, guided by Dr. Sultan Pradhan, Professor of Hands-on Head and Neck Surgeries, then a visiting Fellow under Dr. Wigand, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. Over the years, he has been a visiting Fellow with Professor Stammberger at the Endoscopic Sinus Training Medical University of Graz in Germany, at a Hands-on Course on Lasers, in Stuttgart, Germany, Cochlear Implants Advanced Course under Dr. Graeme Clark at the University of Melbourne in Australia, Expanded Endoscopic Skull base surgery with  Dr. Amin Kassam, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh, and with Dr Ricardo Carrau, Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh.

With his veritable treasure trove of skills, Dr. Janakiraman has treated all types of diseases related to the ear, nose, throat, head, neck and paranasal sinus disease. His expertise covers skull base tumours and disease that includes Glomus jugular, pituitary tumours, Craniopharyngioma, Meningioma, acoustic neuroma, skull base Osteomyelitis and Mucormycosis. He has successfully treated patients with conditions of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma and cochlear Implantation. Dr. Janakiraman is dedicated to elevating Indian Medical education to a global level by encouraging small districts in India to become pioneers in healthcare. He is a name to reckon with in the field of ENT surgery. He is regularly invited as faculty for teaching assignments or to address seminars and participate in workshops, the world over. He’s actively involved in providing credible education in Otorhinolaryngology, as well as advanced sinus and skull base surgeries in over 40 countries. He has authored many books and presented papers and publications at national and international conferences. 

In his leisure hours, he likes to unwind by playing badminton, scuba diving and singing. He speaks English, Hindi and Tamil.
