Dr. Mohamed Magdy Mohamed Abbas

Dr. Mohamed Magdy Mohamed Abbas is a highly accomplished Cardiology Consultant at Medcare Hospital Sharjah. He completed his MBBCh and an MSc in Critical Care Cardiology from the Quasr El Eyni Hospital under Cairo University, Egypt. He has a PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology and a Fellowship in Critical Care Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology from Cairo University, Egypt. He further specialised in Cardiac Electrophysiology Mapping and Ablation through a Fellowship and PhD programme at the Centre Hospitalier Régional Universitaire de Nancy, France. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Cardiovascular Medicine (DIU) from Nancy CHU in France. He is an active member and faculty contributor to several leading professional societies, including the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), World Congress of Arrhythmia, American Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), and the Egyptian Heart Rhythm Association (ECRA). He is also a member and instructor of the American College of Trauma, serves as the Clinical Director of the heart block management JCI programme, and is the Chairman and Director of the GULF EP LIVE International Conference.

Dr. Magdy has spent more than two decades working across Egypt, France and the UAE. During the initial years of his career, he worked as a Consultant in Electrophysiology at Nancy CHU in France. He then moved to Egypt to join Cairo University as a Professor of Critical Care Cardiology and electrophysiology. Subsequently, he moved to the UAE as Chairman and Director of Gulf EP and joined the Al Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah, first as the Deputy Head of the Department of Cardiology and then as the Head of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Department. He is also a Professor of Cardiology at the University of Sharjah, UAE. He specialises in heart rhythm management in the arena of cardiology. He has performed over 3,000 complex ablation procedures, 1,000 conventional pacemaker procedures, and 400 leadless pacemaker implantations. He has also contributed to launching and training in innovative cardiac technologies across countries such as Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, and Jordan. Additionally, he has trained over 200 doctors from the EMEA region and has published extensively in international journals and cardiac literature. He is the proud recipient of several awards recognising his clinical and innovative contributions to the world of Cardiology.

With extensive expertise in managing complex cardiac arrhythmias, Dr. Magdy has successfully treated numerous cases of atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and other rhythm disorders. His proficiency includes advanced arrhythmia management, heart failure related to arrhythmias, complex ablation therapies, cardiac device implantation and extraction, and electrophysiology diagnostics. He specialises in treating irregular heartbeats such as atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome and palpitations, and other rhythm abnormalities. He is proficient in procedures like leadless pacemaker implantation, lead extraction, LAA device closure, ICD/CRT/pacemaker implantation, Conduction System Pacing (CSP), and Pulse Field Ablation (PFA). He manages both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for these conditions, utilising electrophysiology techniques and device implantations.

Dr. Magdy likes to keep fit through sports like rafting and basketball. He speaks Arabic, English and French.
