Dr. Sahar Elghawaby

Dr. Sahar Elghawaby is an experienced Specialist Paediatrician in the Department of Paediatrics at the Barsha South branch of Medcare Medical Centre. She completed her basic medical education at Ain Shams University, Egypt followed by her Master’s degree in Paediatrics at the same university.

Initially, she worked as a House Officer in Paediatrics at Ain Shams University Hospital in Egypt. She then practised in multiple countries like Egypt, Kuwait, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before relocating to the UAE. She has worked with esteemed institutions including Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital, NMC Hospital, the Dr. Suleiman Al Habib Group and Prime Medical Center.

Dr. Elghawaby’s speciality rests in the treatment of general paediatric disorders in children and adolescents. Her area of interest is paediatric critical care and she is proficient in areas such as immunizations, nutritional disorders and vitamin deficiencies, growth and development assessment, managing infectious diseases, and treating chronic paediatric conditions. She has successfully treated acute upper and lower respiratory tract and urinary tract infections, acute gastroenteritis, anaemias, bronchial asthma, gastrointestinal disorders and infantile eczema. She is also skilled in caring for newborns, and infants, and addressing childhood growth and development concerns. She has expertise in managing allergies and urticaria, bronchial asthma and diagnosis of endocrinology disorders in paediatric patients.

Dr. Elghawaby's knowledge and understanding make her a highly competent clinician, always looking to provide inclusive assessments and treatment where possible for her patients. In her free time, she likes to catch up with her reading, listening to music and travelling. She speaks Arabic and English.
