Dr. Abeer Al Khalafawi

Dr Abeer Al Khalafawi is a Consultant Paediatrician in the Department of Paediatrics at the Medcare Women & Children Hospital. She completed her BSc in Basic Medical Sciences followed by MBBS, both from the Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University. She then obtained a Diploma for Child Health from London and a Membership in the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) from Glasgow, UK. She also has to her credit, the membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), a Certification as an International Board Lactation Consultant (BCLC) and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCP), UK. She is also a member of the Jordanian Medical Association. 
Dr. Khalafawi began her illustrious career as a Resident Paediatrician at the Al Sabah Hospital, and then as a Registrar in Paediatrics at Mubarak Al Kabeer Hospital, University Teaching Hospital, both in Kuwait. She worked as a Consultant Paediatrician briefly in Jordan and Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE before joining Saqr Hospital as Head of the Paediatric & Neonatology Department. She also worked in Sharjah as a Consultant Paediatrician at Al Dana Specialist Medical Centre.
At the Saqr Hospital which is a MOH hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, as Head of the Paediatric & Neonatology Department, Dr. Khalafawi added many achievements to her name. She was an Assistant Professor at RAK Medical & Health Sciences University, a member of the Mortality and Morbidity Committee and a member of the Research and Ethics Committee. 
Dr. Khalafawi’s expertise covers general Paediatrics that includes asthma, nutritional disorders, anaemia, blood diseases, constipation, obesity, skin rashes, and allergies in children. She has successfully managed acute and chronic paediatric diseases, infantile colic, GERD, and growth failure and treated lactation difficulties and breastfeeding problems.
She administers vaccination and uses techniques like urinary catheterization, and lumbar puncture intubation to treat her little patients. She monitors normal and abnormal growth in infants and children and has also given ventilation to new-borns.
She considers swimming, exercising, cooking and listening to music as good ways to unwind after a hard day at work. She speaks Arabic and English.
