Dr. Sumitra Mani

Dr. Sumitra Mani is a Specialist in the Department of Paediatrics at the Meadows and Marina branches of Medcare Medical Centre. After completing her MBBS from Madras Medical College in India she acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from Rajiv Gandhi Medical University also in India. She completed her Paediatric post-graduate training at both the Liverpool (Mersey) and the Sheffield (South Yorkshire) deaneries, where she gained tremendous experience in General Paediatrics, Tertiary Neonatology and specialties like Paediatric A&E, Paediatric Gastroenterology and Paediatric Oncology. She did her  CCT CORE from South Yorkshire and South Humberside Deanery, UK.

She is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Neonatology(MRCPCH), the Tamil Nadu Medical Council, the Indian Medical Council (IMC), the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and the General Medical Council (GMC), UK.                                                

During her formative years,  Dr. Mani honed her skills in Neonatology at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and her expertise was further enhanced through her spell at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, one of Europe's largest children's hospitals. She then served as a Senior House Officer in Paediatrics and Neonatology at Mersey and Yorkshire Deaneries and became a Specialist Registrar in Paediatrics and Neonatology achieving CCT core training at Yorkshire Deanery. Later, she moved to Chennai in India where she was a Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at Sundaram Medical  Foundation, GLB Hospital and Acute Stroke Centre, and Chennai Child Clinic. After relocating to the UAE, Dr. Mani initially worked as a Specialist Paediatrician at Medicentres in partnership with Kings College Hospital, then at Aster Cedars Hospital, as a Specialist Paediatrician and Neonatologist. Subsequently, she became the Medical Director of Aster Cedars Clinic and also did a brief stint at Neuro Spinal Hospital as a Specialist in Paediatrics and Neonatology. 

Dr Mani's expertise encompasses nurturing the health of newborns, supervising their well-being and guiding parents on nutrition and growth monitoring. She assesses developmental milestones, addresses concerns and schedules immunization and vaccination for her little patients. Her skills extend to managing childhood allergies, asthma, infectious diseases, gastritis, diarrhoea, vomiting, obesity and diet counselling. She carries out development and behavioural assessments as well as the prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of both chronic and acute paediatric illnesses.

She believes in holistic treatment and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Dr. Mani is an outgoing person who loves compering, travelling and singing in her leisure hours. She speaks English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil.
