Dr. Mohamad Awad

Dr. Mohamad Awad is a skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Foot & Ankle) at Medcare Medical Centre, with a rich experience of over two decades. He completed his MBBS and MD from Aleppo University in Syria. He has completed training in Orthopaedic and Trauma- Surgery from the Orthopaedic Department of Homs and Damascus, Syria. He is a Facharzt in General and Trauma Surgery and a Facharzt in Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery, from Saxony in Germany. He has also completed a certification in Foot & Ankle Surgery from Cologne, Germany, a certification in Radiation protection and a Basic and Advanced certificate in Arthrosonography from clinic Enzensberg, Germany.

He is a member (expert level) of the German Society for Foot and Ankle Surgery(GFFC), the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS), the Professional Association for German Surgeons (BDC), the German Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology (DGOU) and a certified member of the German Association for Foot and Ankle (D.A.F.).

Dr. Awad commenced his sterling career as an assistant physician to specialist training in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Homs and Damascus in Syria. He then joined the Department of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at the Waldbroel Hospital in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. He worked for a few years in the Department of Surgery and Traumatology at Collm Clinic in Oschatz, Leipzig, Germany and then became a Specialist in the Department of General and Trauma Surgery at the same clinic. He later rose to become a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Trauma Center at St George Hospital in Germany and then a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Department of Trauma Surgery in the Clinic Collm Oschatz, Germany. Later he became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Cologne Foot and Ankle Surgery Center in Germany. Subsequently, he moved to the UAE where he served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in SGHD, then DRHC and Mubadala Health Dubai.

Dr. Awad treats all types of fractures and acute and chronic orthopaedic complaints that include the upper and lower extremities, neck, back and pelvic complaints, acute foot and ankle injuries, Achilles tendon inflammation or rupture, sports injuries, Hallux Valgus (Bunions), Hallux Rigidus (osteoarthritis), Hammertoes and claw toes, acquired and congenital toe deformities, heel pain, shaft fractures of large tubular bones (lower leg, thigh, forearm, upper arm), joint fractures, especially ankle, arthroscopy of the ankle joint,  rheumatic feet, treatment of cartilage defects through microfracture and AMIC -plastic, anterior and posterior impingement syndrome in the ankle joint, Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, nerve entrapment syndrome, neuroma, tendon repair in chronic and acute cases, arthrodesis in the hindfoot, midfoot and forefoot area for congenital and acquired foot deformities and diseases. He performs both open and minimally invasive foot surgeries, minimally invasive metatarsal osteotomy, correction osteotomies, bunionette of the little toe, cheilectomy, toe deformities, Haglund heel removal, exostosis removal, arthrosis of the subtalar joint in children with flexible pes planovalgus /flatfoot and ankle joint arthroscopy.  He gives joint and soft tissue injections ( PRP, hyaluronic acid corticosteroids), shockwave therapy for heel pain, Achilles tendon complaints, stress fractures, neuroma pain, delayed bone healing, bursitis, tendons and muscle pain, Foot medical insoles after foot scan, pressure measurement and Gait analysis and ankle braces and orthotics. He also provides patients a second opinion before surgery.
He participates in trauma surgery and orthopaedic conferences regularly. He speaks Arabic, English and German.
