Dr. Hillol Kanti Pal

Dr. Hillol Kanti Pal is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Medcare Medical Centre. He completed his MBBS and MCh in Neurosurgery from the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. He also holds a PhD. He is a Member of the Neurological Society of India, the Delhi Neurological Association and the Neurosurgical Association of Malaysia. He is a Teaching Faculty at the Mission Spine Foundation, Pune, India.

Dr. Pal has over three decades of international experience, having worked in India, Malaysia, and the UAE in senior clinical and academic positions. His journey in Neurosurgery began with a stint as a specialist neurosurgeon with Bokaro General Hospital under the Steel Authority of India Limited. Later, he worked with the Safdarjung Hospital and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) attached to the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi. He was invited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Malaysia, to develop their post-graduate Neurosurgery training programme. He served as an Associate Professor at Universiti Sains Malaysia, contributing to neurosurgical education and research. Subsequently, he moved to the UAE as Medical Director of RAK Hospital, Ras Al Khaimah, under the Ministry of Health. He also served as a Consultant in Neurology at Lifeline Hospital, International Modern Hospital, Thumbay University Hospital and Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai. He served as the Medical Director at the Thumbay Group of Hospitals & Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at Gulf Medical University, UAE.  Before joining Medcare, he worked as a Consultant in Neurology at the Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai.

Dr. Pal’s expertise includes minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery, epilepsy surgery, brain and spinal trauma, and stroke intervention. He performs advanced pain management procedures such as epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, and spinal fusion surgeries. He is proficient in diagnosing and treating various back pain conditions, including lower back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, migraines, and tension headaches. He treats tumours, hydrocephalus, simple neurotrauma, acute stroke, paraplegia, quadriplegia, brain abscess and head injury. While using the latest treatment methods, he ensures that his patients receive personalised care plans that alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance their quality of life. He performs TFESI, Facet joint blocks, microdiscectomy, endoscopic discectomy, laminectomy, epilepsy surgery in selected cases and spine fusions (PLIF/ TLIF/ ALIF). 

When he can find time in his busy schedule, Dr. Pal enjoys photography, dabbling in multimedia, watching educational films and storytelling. He has the distinction of authoring four internationally recognised books on neurosurgery, reflecting his academic and clinical authority in the field. He speaks Bengali, English, Hindi and Urdu.
