About

Dr. Unni Nair is a Consultant in the Department of Internal Medicine at Medcare Hospital Sharjah. He completed his medical undergraduate training from the Government Medical College, Kottayam and postgraduate training from M.S Ramaiah Medical College Bangalore, both in India. To his credit, he holds a European Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (EDIC) and an Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM). He has completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India and an MBA in Hospital Management from the clinical faculty at Sharjah University.He is a member of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), the Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), and the Association of Kerala Medical Graduates (AKMG).

Dr. Nair has been a Consultant in Internal Medicine for almost two decades. He spent the initial years of his career, working as a Consultant Physician at St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore Emergency Medicine Department and St. Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha. He was Consultant Physician and Intensivist at the Baptist Hospital, Bangalore, before essaying the role of Consultant Physician and Intensivist at Lourdes Hospital, Cochin. He was the Head of the Critical Care Department and in charge of the Medical Intensive care unit during this time. He then moved to the UAE as a Consultant with a JCI-accredited hospital.

Dr. Nair’s core competencies cover a range of conditions related to general medicine, management of diabetes, hypertension and sepsis. He uses invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and BiPAP in resolving respiratory tract infections and asthma. He is proficient in treating conditions like thyroid disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, dyslipidaemia, metabolic disorders, obesity, anaemia and vitamin deficiencies. He uses advanced haemodynamic monitoring, central line and arterial pressure monitoring and bedside cardiac output monitoring in the management of cardiology and neurology cases and febrile illness. His expertise lies in the medical management of intensive care patients and ventilatory care in inpatient settings.

 

He speaks Arabic, English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil.
