Dr. Basma Shehabi

Dr. Basma Ali Shehabi is a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Medcare Hospital, Sharjah. She completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Damascus University, Syria and then specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Ministry of Health, Syria.

Dr. Shehabi is a highly experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist with over three decades of clinical expertise, having worked at leading JCI-accredited healthcare facilities in the UAE and Syria. She began her career as a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Al Salama Hospital in Damascus, Syria. Subsequently, she moved to the UAE, where she worked for a long time with the American Hospital in Dubai before joining Medcare.

Dr. Shehabi is dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centred care by combining advanced medical expertise with preventative healthcare. Her forte spans the care of women with a focus on high and low-risk pregnancies, infertility management, advanced gynaecological procedures, and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. Patients consult her for all types of normal and Caesarean deliveries, infertility management and assisted conception support and procedures like colposcopy, hysteroscopy, laparotomy and pelvic floor repair. She is interested in preventive women’s healthcare like cancer screening, menopause care and reproductive health. She also treats menopausal symptoms and hormonal imbalance, contraception and family planning issues, pelvic floor dysfunctions and prolapse, benign gynaecological disorders including fibroids, ovarian cysts and endometriosis.
