Dr. Shadi Najem

Dr. Shadi Najem is a highly skilled General Surgeon at Medcare Medical Centre. He completed his MBBS, followed by a Master’s Degree in General Surgery from the Crimea Medical University in Simferopol, Ukraine. Additionally, he holds a Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Boston, USA. 

Dr. Najem spent nearly two decades honing his skills in surgery, working first at the Al Qasimi Hospital, then at the Canadian Speciality Hopital. He also served as a Registrar in General Surgery at Medcare Hospital, Al Safa, followed by a stint at the Emirates Hospital, Jumeirah and then at Cosmesurge Plastic Surgery Hospital and Clinics in Dubai. Having gained invaluable experience in the field of surgery, he joined NMC Speciality Hospital, Al Nahda, as a Laparoscopic and General Surgeon and soon became an Assistant Medical Director. 

Dr. Najem is a skilled surgeon who specialises in performing both laparoscopic and general surgical procedures on various parts of the body, particularly the head, neck, abdomen, thyroid, skin, breasts, glands, hernias, haemorrhoids and intestines. He performs excision and biopsy of lipoma, skin lesions, sebaceous cysts, lymph nodes, repair of ear pinna, thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, excision of thyroglossal cyst, submandibular gland, removal of salivary gland stone, parotidectomy, thyroid nodule fine-needle aspiration (ultrasound-guided) and excision biopsy of tongue and cheek lesions. He does breast screening, ultrasound, mammogram and MRI, breast cyst fine-needle aspiration, lump core biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy and axillary clearance, gynecomastia surgery, incision and drainage of breast abscess 

As a surgeon, he has an important role to play in diagnosing the cause of unexplained pain in the abdomen. He performs gastroscopy, colonoscopy, gastric balloon removal, adhesiolysis and laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection and fundoplication. He does excision and biopsy of sebaceous cysts, lipomas, skin lesions and ganglia of the arm and leg, foot corn excision and cryotherapy treatment, ingrowing toenail surgery, and wound debridement.
