Dr. Mohamed Abdalla Zakaria Hussein Salem

Dr. Mohamed Abdalla Zakaria Hussein Salem is a Specialist in Gastroenterology at Medcare Medical Centre. He completed his MBBCh and MD degrees from the renowned Cairo University in Egypt. He is a member of the Egyptian Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society, the Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society, the World Endoscopy Organisation and the United European Gastroenterology Society.

Dr. Salem has spent more than two decades working across Egypt and the UAE. He began his journey with the Police Hospital and then at New Kasr Al Aini Teaching Hospital, both in Cairo, Egypt. Subsequently, he relocated to the UAE, working first at the Asad Dajani Specialised Centre then as a Specialist Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Habib Medical Center. He practised as a Specialist in Gastroenterology at the Prime Medical Center, the Medeor Hospital, the Al Tadawi Medical Center and Hospital, the Rami Hamed Center, the Emirates Specialty Center and Hospital, the Swift Day Surgical Center and the Gargash Hospital. He also served as a Specialist in Gastroenterology at the Dubai London Hospital before joining Medcare.

Dr. Salem’s expertise covers the entire gamut of gastroenterological diseases. He treats oesophageal diseases like heartburn and reflux, stomach and duodenal diseases like gastritis, duodenitis, polyps and peptic ulcer, gall bladder diseases, small and large intestinal diseases like malabsorption, lactose intolerance, Celiac disease, colon diseases like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Crohn’s disease. He uses the latest techniques, including oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) and colonoscopy, gastric balloon insertion and removal for weight loss, fibroscan of the liver and video capsule endoscopy. Patients come to him for treatment of rectal diseases, acute and chronic hepatitis, alcoholic and fatty liver disease and pancreatic diseases.

He jogs regularly as he believes in keeping fit, and during his spare time, he enjoys playing Football and Tennis. He speaks Arabic and English.
