Dr. Calaweez Othman

Dr.Calaweez Othman is a Consultant in the Department of Family Medicine at the Meadows branch of Medcare Medical Centre. She completed her basic education in Medicine and then obtained a UK Board Certification MRCGP with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from London (UK). She is a member of the General Medical Council (GMC) of the U.K. and the British Medical Association (BMA). 

She started her career as a Junior Training Doctor with the NHS in the U.K and then became a Specialty Training Doctor and a Primary Care Specialty Registrar, also with the NHS. She practised as a Family Medicine Consultant at a well-known practice in the East of England and has a wealth of experience working at various hospitals in London, Watford, Northampton, Doncaster, Stevenage, South end Debenham and Ipswich. She worked briefly as a Family Medicine Consultant at the American Hospital before joining Medcare.

Dr. Othman’s clinical specialties range from medical to surgical including acute medicine, mental health, child health and palliative medicine which she has incorporated into her Family Medicine practice. She prides herself on her ability to build rapport with her patients, dealing comfortably with all age groups and ethnicities. She treats general illnesses, ENT diseases, skin disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, common eye diseases like Conjunctivitis and Blepharitis, metabolic disorders like Hypertension, Diabetes, and Thyroid, and respiratory diseases. She has successfully managed patients with mental illness and psychiatric problems, provides primary health care (elective and urgent), conducts health checks and screening, believes in health promotion and disease prevention, and practices paediatrics medicine too.

Dr. Othman listens to her patients and uses every opportunity to educate them. She is passionate about spreading medical awareness and has taught medical students at Cambridge University and in Post-graduate medical courses in London. She speaks Arabic, English and Kurdish.
