Dr. Jiji Tresa Cyriac

Dr. Jiji Tresa Cyriac is a Specialist Ophthalmologist at Medcare Medical Centre. She completed her MBBS from Kerala University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmology from the SRMC & Research Centre, both in India. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FRCS), Glasgow, UK, and a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO). She also completed a postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education from the Gulf Medical University (GMU), UAE. She is a member of the Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons.

Dr. Cyriac has worked and taught in several reputed institutions in India and the UAE. She has a great passion for teaching and started her career by working at various hospitals in Kerala including the well-known T.D. Medical College in Alappuzha. She then taught at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Centre in Chennai, followed by stints at the Mahajubilee Hospital, the KPM Eye Hospital and Lasik Centre, and the Sacred Heart Hospital in Kerala. She relocated to the UAE, working as a Specialist Ophthalmologist at GMC Hospital & Research Centre. After that, she spent almost a decade at NMC Healthcare. Her articles have been published in journals and magazines and she regularly participates in community health programmes. 

Dr. Cyriac’s expertise covers the entire diagnosis and management of eye and eyelid conditions by slit lamp bio-microscopy, tonometry (for glaucoma), and superficial corneal and conjunctival foreign body removal by slit lamp. She also manages trichiasis, mild chemical or thermal burns, refractive disorders, dry eye, headaches, direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy and gonioscopy for drainage of eyelid abscesses. Her special interests are anterior segment eye conditions and diabetic eye diseases. She has successfully treated eyelid inflammations, infections, myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, presbyopia, asthenopia, dry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, minor injuries to the eye and eyelid, corneal abrasions, haemorrhage, anterior uveitis, mild keratitis and early corneal ulcers. She performs screening for diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy and glaucoma. 

She speaks Arabic, English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil.
