Dr. Shubha Saldanha

Dr. Shubha Saldanha is a Specialist Ophthalmologist at Medcare Medical Centre. She completed her MBBS from JJM Medical College Hospital and her Diploma in Ophthalmology (DOMS) from the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), both affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Additionally, she is a Diplomate of the National Board for the practice of Ophthalmology (DNB-OPH) from the Eye Foundation, affiliated to the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, India. She has completed Part I of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Glasgow, UK. 

Dr. Saldanha has rich experience of nearly two decades in her chosen field, having worked in India, Kuwait and the UAE. She commenced her career as an Ophthalmologist in India, first with the Eye Foundation in Coimbatore and then with MRC Eye Hospital, Mysore. Later, she joined the 

Al Zuhair Medical Centre in Kuwait as a Registrar Ophthalmologist and worked in a similar capacity at Dar Al Shifa Hospital, also in Kuwait. Subsequently, she joined Axon Medica Polyclinic at the Dubai Silicon Oasis, UAE, as a Specialist Ophthalmologist.

Dr. Saldanha is an expert in the management of anterior segment diseases such as infections, autoimmune conditions like episcleritis, scleritis and uveitis and allergic disorders of the eye and refraction of adults and children for myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism and management of amblyopia for children. Her expertise also covers dry eye disease management, computer vision syndrome, presbyopia, screening and medical management of glaucoma and screening of diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy. Patients visit her for minor surgical procedures like chalazion, cyst excisions, conjunctival and corneal foreign body removals, drainage of lid abscess, blepharitis, trichiasis, and concretions, and the treatment of thermal and chemical injuries to the eye. She treats infectious conjunctivitis, conjunctival cysts, haemorrhage, ocular surface disorders, corneal infections, recurrent cornea erosions and ulcers and performs cataract removal surgeries with lens implantation, refractive surgeries like LASIK, PRK, PTK for erosions and cornea collagen cross-linking for keratoconus. 

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and exploring multicultural cuisines. She also likes reading and spending time with family and friends. She speaks Arabic, English, Hindi, Kannada and Tamil.
