Dr. Antonia Artigues-Barcelo

Dr. Antonia Artigues-Barcelo is a Consultant Internal Medicine at Medcare Medical Centre in Meadows. Originating from Mallorca, Spain, she has dedicated over a decade of her life to living and practicing medicine in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Antonia holds three primary passions: her cherished family, her adventurous globetrotting, and her fulfilling career as a compassionate and empathetic physician.

Her educational journey began with a Medical Degree earned at Universitat Autonoma in Barcelona, followed by specialization in Internal Medicine at Hospital Universitari Son Dureta, both prestigious institutions in Spain. Dr. Antonia possesses extensive experience in Internal Medicine, having worked in both inpatient and outpatient healthcare settings.

Before her relocation to the UAE, she honed her skills in the field by practicing in various private and government hospitals in Spain. During this time, she initiated and managed diverse medical projects, eventually taking on the role of Head of Department in Internal Medicine.

Since her move to the UAE, Dr. Antonia has been a dedicated Internal Medicine Consultant at a reputable clinic and hospital in Dubai. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she has served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University (MBRU).

Dr. Antonia's expertise encompasses a wide range of internal medicine conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory ailments, anemias, thyroid disorders, infectious diseases, autoimmune systemic conditions, and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. She also conducts comprehensive general health check-ups.

She holds memberships in the Spanish Medical Council, the Internal Medicine Spanish Association, and the Middle East and North Africa Stroke Organization. Dr. Antonia is fluent in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
